Serving Up Fun and Community: Inaugural Pickleball Tournament a Winning Success

The Pickleball Tournament sponsored by the Shepherdstown Rotary Club, Charles Town Rotary Club, and Jefferson County Parks and Recreation was held on May 16, 2026, at Sam Michaels Park.

For a first-time event, the tournament was a great success. Players, volunteers, sponsors, and spectators came together for a day of friendly competition, community engagement, and fun. The participation and positive feedback demonstrated the growing popularity of pickleball in our region and highlighted the value of partnerships between local organizations committed to promoting recreation and community involvement.

While every inaugural event provides opportunities to learn and improve, the tournament established a solid foundation for future competitions. The organizing committee gained valuable experience in tournament operations, participant engagement, and event logistics that will help make future tournaments even stronger.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, whose generosity helped make this event possible. Special thanks to Jefferson Security Bank and Snyder Environmental, as well as the many anonymous donors and Rotary Club members who provided financial support, volunteered their time, and contributed resources to ensure the tournament’s success.

We also extend our appreciation to all players, volunteers, spectators, and supporters who participated in this event. Their enthusiasm and commitment created a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the day.

Building on the momentum of this year’s tournament, the sponsoring organizations look forward to making this an annual tradition. We are excited to build upon the lessons learned and the success achieved in our first attempt to create an even bigger and better event for our community in the years ahead.
