Dr. Chuck Bishop, Superintendent, Jefferson County Schools
The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown is pleased to welcome Dr. Chuck Bishop, Superintendent of Jefferson County Schools, as our guest speaker on Monday, July 14, at the Bavarian Inn.
Dr. Bishop joined Jefferson County Schools in July 2023 and brings more than 30 years of experience in public education. Throughout his career, he has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Prior to coming to Jefferson County, he served as Superintendent of Clarke County Public Schools in Virginia for nine years and previously led school divisions in both Augusta County and Radford City, Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Virginia Tech and both his Masterโs Degree and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Virginia.
During his presentation, Dr. Bishop will provide an update on Jefferson County Schools and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing one of West Virginiaโs fastest-growing school systems. Topics are expected to include student enrollment trends, school construction projects, workforce and career readiness, teacher recruitment and retention, the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in education, and the long-term vision for preparing students for success in an ever-changing world.
As Jefferson County continues to experience significant growth, Dr. Bishopโs insights will offer Rotarians a valuable perspective on the future of public education and the important role schools play in supporting students, families, businesses, and the broader community.
