We were fortunate to hear from the YMCA of Frederick County, Maryland at our morning meeting April 16, 2024. CEO Chris Colville and Vice President Tom Clingman presented their ongoing feasibility study for the future construction of a facility in Jefferson County, WV.
Many programs offered through the YMCA include but are not limited to affordable childcare, head start programs, camps, teen programs, youth sports, aquatics, active older adult programs, healthy living, community outreach, and beyond. Colville explained many needs found for the county through their feasibility including a shortage of affordable licensed daycare programs and aquatics programs. The project would aim to create many collaborations with other county initiatives, non-profits, school involvement, and bridge the gap of missing programs in the county.
