Valentine grew up in Shepherdstown. She is a graduate of Jefferson High School and Shepherd University, where she studied music and environmental science. After graduating from Shepherd in 2019, she began a career in government affairs, first lobbying on Capitol Hill and then for the last three years at the West Virginia State Capitol with the West Virginia Environmental Council. She is currently running unopposed in the May primary as the Democratic candidate for the District 97 State House of Delegates seat, which represents parts of Shepherdstown and Martinsburg. She will face the winner of the contested Republican primary in the November election.

Valentine is also a singer and songwriter and enjoys writing music and performing in her spare time.
