Yesterday’s Go Team Therapy Dogs presentation was a joy for everyone in the room — made even better by the chance to meet three beautiful therapy dogs: Ellie, Hudson, and Giuseppe.

Rachel Manwill, training and recruiting co-coordinator for Go Team Therapy Dogs – Team Frederick, shared the important role therapy dogs play in bringing comfort, calm, and connection to people in hospitals, schools, military settings, hospice care, and community events.

Rachel was joined by Hudson, her 10-year-old Golden Retriever, who has been part of Go Team’s work for many years. Hudson began serving with Rachel’s mother in 2017 and has brought comfort and companionship to communities and members of the military in Idaho, Korea, Italy, and now Frederick.

Also joining the presentation were Francina and Joe Baldi with Giuseppe, along with Ellie — giving everyone a firsthand look at the gentle presence these dogs bring wherever they go.

For District Governor Sean Murtagh, Giuseppe’s visit was especially meaningful. He was the therapy dog who visited his mother and family when she was in hospice and near the end of her life. Seeing him again was a touching reminder of how powerful this work can be — not just as a program, but as a real source of comfort in some of life’s most tender moments.
