Rotary Installs New Bee Line March Sign at Morgan’s Grove Park

Last Saturday (June 7) members of the Shepherdstown Rotary Club installed a new Bee Line March interpretive sign in the town’s Morgan’s Grove Park.

The sign was placed next to a brass plaque that was placed in the park in 1988 to commemorate the march. Since the new sign contains much more information than the plaque, it provides much-needed context for it.

The sign was fabricated to National Park Service specifications by Hopewell Manufacturing, of Waynesboro, PA. The sign’s image was donated by local Shepherdstown artist Diana Suttenfield. The sign body was paid for by the Shepherdstown Rotary Club. The sign will be dedicated during the Bee Line March 250th Anniversary commemorative event being held at the park on June 14.

The sign and plaque are located on the south side of the park’s pavilion. The accompanying photo shows the members of the Rotary work crew that installed the sign. They are, from left to right, Gary Heichel, Dana Orsini, Walt Eifert, Steve Campbell, and Jack Lantzy.
