The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown is pleased to announce the induction of new member Daryl Cowles, who officially joined the club on July 1, 2026. He was welcomed at a recent club meeting after transferring from the Berkeley Springs Rotary Club.
Cowles brings more than 30 years of experience in public service, economic development, and business leadership, including 14 years as an elected member of the West Virginia House of Delegates. During his legislative service, he held key leadership positions including Majority Leader and Speaker Pro Tempore, helping advance major policy and economic initiatives across West Virginia. He also has experience in the Governor’s Office and with regional economic development organizations, along with a strong record of supporting infrastructure and development projects in the Eastern Panhandle. In addition to his state-level work, Cowles has a long history of local government service and community involvement. He has served on numerous nonprofit and advisory boards, including the Chamber of Commerce, Eastern Panhandle Homebuilders Association, Blue Ridge Community & Technical College Advisory Council, county planning commission, and Farmland Protection Board. He is also a longtime member of the Berkeley Springs Rotary Club, where he served as president.
Cowles is an active volunteer for youth sports and arts programs and enjoys live music. He and his wife, Nikki, have four children and live on the family farm in eastern Morgan County.

The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown plays an active role locally by supporting youth programs, scholarships, community service initiatives, and nonprofit partnerships. Through hands-on service and collaborative leadership, the club works to strengthen the Shepherdstown community and create lasting positive change.
