Rotarians from the Shepherdstown and Charles Town Rotary Clubs visited four Jefferson County elementary schools in February to read to all first-grade classes following the snow days in February.

The reading program, launched by the two clubs in 2023, brings Rotarians to these schools four times each year. During each visit, members read a selected book to first graders and give every child a copy to keep and take home. Teachers choose the books, and the Rotary clubs cover the full cost.
This month’s selection was Animal Homes by National Geographic, a nonfiction book featuring vivid photographs of wild animals alongside their homes in natural habitats.
