The Community Services Committee of our terrific club has organized a “Stuff A Truck” event on October 26th and 27th to support animal rescue organizations operating in Jefferson and Berkeley Counties. We will be collecting much-needed supplies for these 501c3 groups who protect the voiceless and vulnerable members of our community.
Each of the rescues in our area has and continues to work through an unprecedented number of animal cruelty and hoarding cases this year. Their needs far outweigh their funding at this point. They are in need of everything they use to properly care for the animals until placement in permanent, loving homes occurs. In addition to the needs locally, these groups wish to send a portion of what we collect to our southern communities who have experienced catastrophic destruction due to Hurricane Helene. With another monster of a storm on the way, Hurricane Milton, they will need all the assistance they can get for a very long time. We commend our local rescue leaders for wanting to share their donations to support these communities.
The event plays out as follows: We park a 26-ft box truck each day at the location listed below. With permission we have obtained from store management, our volunteers hand out pre-printed “Wish Lists” to shoppers as they enter the stores and we request they support our cause. This is a no-pressure process. We simply hand them the list, explain our goal, and request they add an item or more to their purchases to help fill the truck. If they refuse, we wish them well and move on to the next customer. As shoppers bring their donations out, volunteers collect and sort them in the truck. On Monday, October 28th, volunteers will use their pick-up trucks to disperse the donations to the rescues. These rescues have each provided lists of needed items and have been instructed to have a space ready for the items. As the event title suggests, the goal is to stuff the truck until we can barely close the doors!

8:30a-10:30a (includes set up of pop-up tent from 8:30-9)
10:30a-12:30p
12:30p-2:30p
2:30p-4:30p (includes take down of pop-up tent from 4-4:30)
