For the past 32 years, the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown and the Rotary Club of Martinsburg, West Virginia, have convened an annual World Affairs Seminar for students from area high schools to engage in dialogue on a topic of local, national and global relevance.

The overall objective is:

  • To bring together student leaders, especially from school Interact Clubs, from 6 area high schools of Berkeley and Jefferson Counties, WV, to engage in a constructive dialogue on better understanding an important issue of national and international importance;
  • To provide follow-up options to encourage constructive engagement in addressing the selected issue.

The approach is to mobilize experts as speakers, to provide overall perspectives, and to stimulate discussion, through breakout groups and plenary discussion.
