At its Tuesday morning meeting on September 15th, the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown presented a $2,000 check to Ellen McComb of Lift Global, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Shepherdstown. The check was presented in support of a Shoe Voucher Program initiated by Lift Global to provide shoe vouchers of up to $70 for needy Jefferson County school students returning to class. The program offers families the opportunity to apply for vouchers to purchase new school shoes. As described by Ellen, “each voucher allows a student to choose their own shoes, selecting a style that suits them and gives them a boost of confidence as they head into the classroom.”
Ellen indicated that the new program was inspired by Rotary’s school back pack program in which Lift Global has participated since initiation in 2022. Since that time, Lift Global has contributed over $3,500 to this important Rotary initiative. We highly value our partnership with Lift Global in our combined efforts to improve the lives of families in need throughout Jefferson County. Funding for the contribution came from Rotary Community Service Committee resources and a matching donation from a Club member.
