The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown was proud to continue its support of Girl Scout Troop 15099 by donating $500 toward the troop’s bat box conservation project.
With the help of Rotarian Walt Eifert, the Girl Scouts were able to build numerous bat boxes that help protect endangered bats in the local community.
The Rotary Club initially donated $500 to Eifert to purchase the materials and supplies needed for the bat boxes. He then graciously donated the funds to Troop 15099 to help continue the troop’s efforts and initiatives with the project.
The donation presentation was preceded by a presentation from Berniece Collis highlighting the success of the local troops and their annual Women of Distinction event, which has raised more than $1 million for local West Virginia Girl Scouts.
This year’s Women of Distinction event will be held on Wednesday, October 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Angelina Gray, leader of Troop 15099 and Evening Chair of the Shepherdstown Rotary Club, is one of this year’s three honorees. Membership Chair and Past President Cara Keys was also recognized as one of the honorees at last year’s event.
