Members of the Shepherdstown Rotary Club turned out Friday and Saturday (November 21 and 22) to erect and decorate the town’s Christmas tree on the McMurran Hall lawn.
The Rotary Club has performed this service for the town each year since the town’s “Christmas in Shepherdstown” celebration began more than 30 years ago.
This year’s tree was again donated by Dan and Bryan Trees (formerly Sundback’s) of Shepherdstown, which has generously provided the town with Christmas trees for many years.
The accompanying photo shows some of the members of the Saturday tree-decorating crew on the steps of McMurran Hall. This year’s Christmas celebration will begin formally at McMurran Hall around 6:00 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving (Friday, November 29) with the lighting of the tree, a holiday bonfire, a children’s story reading, and Santa’s arrival.
The town will hold its annual Christmas parade, which is organized by the Rotary Club, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7.
