Jefferson County Schools held its 2nd Annual Special Needs Field Day Saturday April 20, 2024. The event was led by Jefferson High School Student Ja’el Thomas and other NHS students in support of Parent Educator Resource Center. The event allowed students between K-12 the opportunity to enjoy sensory friendly games in an environment that could be enjoyed and more inclusive to differing needs for our students. There were over 25 activities, snack bar, and craft center. The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown was happy to participate in volunteering for the event as well as donating $1,000 towards the overhead costs of the event. The money came from proceeds from the Shepherdstown Beer & Food Fest. The annual fundraiser is earmarked towards youth and mentorship programs like this in Jefferson County.
