The Rev. Gethin Wied is an Episcopal Priest and recent arrival to Shepherdstown and West Virginia. A native of California, near the end of 2023 he accepted the call to become the 26th Rector of Trinity Church here in town. Prior to this, he was Clergy Associate and Day School Chaplain at St. James’ Church in South Pasadena, CA. In 2017, he completed of his Master’s in Divinity from the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA and in January 2018 was ordained to the Priesthood. Prior to becoming a priest, he worked in the field of library and archival services within the corporate world and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilizations and Archaeology from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He is married to Meredith and they both have loved making their home in the Shepherdstown area. Rev. Wied will give a talk entitled “The History of Trinity Church, Shepherdstown”, which will tell the story of the historic parish at which he serves and the people without whom none of it would be possible. He will also speak a little about the church’s current efforts to transcribe and digitize their historic records. Efforts which are vital for telling the larger story of our community.
