Marshall DeMeritt is a local public servant whose professional and volunteer careers are deeply rooted in service, leadership, and community impact. With nearly two decades of progressive experience at the Shepherdstown Fire Department, Inc.,

Marshall currently serves as Fire Captain and EMS Coordinator, leading emergency response efforts and championing the highest standards of operational excellence and patient care. In these roles, he oversees fire suppression operations, emergency scene management, and the development and mentorship of both career and volunteer EMS providers. His tenure includes positions as Chief of EMS, Assistant Chief, EMS Lieutenant, and Firefighter/EMT, reflecting a steadfast commitment to readiness, team-building, and advancing pre-hospital care capabilities. Beyond his fire service leadership, Marshall brings extensive expertise as Managing Director (National Security) and USCG Programs Director, where he guides the successful execution of IT Sustainment, Enhancement, and Modernization projects for Federal National Security agencies (USCG, FEMA, TSA, etc.).

He is responsible for a multi-million-dollar budget and a talented team of more than 350 IT professionals, ensuring that critical federal business systems remain reliable and innovative. Grounded by formative experiences on a Virginia goat farm and academic achievements from Shepherd University, West Virginia University, and Villanova, Marshall blends hands-on local emergency response with national strategic operational management.
