Skating is On! — Frostyfest Scheduled for March 6, 7, 8

Frosty Fest began as a creative idea from the Jefferson County Convention & Visitors Bureau—an effort to bring some winter energy to downtown during the typically slow retail month of January. The cornerstone of the weekend is a hot chocolate contest, with several local restaurants competing and welcoming visitors inside to warm up and indulge.
But the planners wanted more—something playful, something memorable, something especially fun for families.
Enter the ice rink. Skating times are:
Friday 4-7pm
Saturday 10-4pm
Sunday 10-4pm
Behind the Market House on King Street, an acrylic ice rink will pop up for the weekend—perfectly suited to our mild winter climate. A professional company will handle setup and breakdown, and skates will be available for rent on site. Rotarians will be running the sign-in desk, helping things glide along smoothly.
Donations will be accepted at the rink and will benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). All skaters (or parents/guardians) will be asked to sign a waiver.
And there’s more than skating.
We’ve added a snack station, complete with tables and chairs where folks can relax while waiting for their turn on the ice. Four youth organizations—Girl Scouts, Med-Life, Rotaract, and Interact—will be serving donated snacks throughout the weekend. These are just small treats; the goal is still to encourage everyone to visit and support our downtown restaurants.
The Shepherdstown Community Club is partnering with us to help make this a truly welcoming community event. The fire department is also on board, bringing a fire truck for kids to explore and hosting a warming fire to keep everyone cozy.
