A Message from Eagle School Intermediate

It is with heavy hearts that we share that our All-Star Band has times when we shine a little dimmer. In January 2023, one of our band students Jaxon and his mother, Christina, an educator at ESI, passed away unexpectedly. Jaxon was an incredible person. He was always the first to jump in to help. He loved being a part of the community we build in our band room. Jaxon had the best giggle and giant toothy grin. He worked hard and was honest. A loyal friend and brave. He loved band and looked forward to his future in it. Christina was a huge part of our All-Star band community, helping with our fundraisers, assisting students, and preparing for concerts. As Jaxon often reminded his friends, “we are All-Star Band; we take care of each other.” ~All-Star Music Teacher, Matt Blom

On behalf of Eagle School Intermediate, The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown is sponsoring the “Jaxon Martin Memorial Award Fund” which will be used exclusively to annually award an instrument in Jaxon’s name to a graduating 5th-grade All-Star Band member who demonstrates compassion, dedication, resilience, and shares a sense of community with those around them. All donations are tax-deductible.
