The special decorative Shepherdstown license plates developed last year by the Shepherdstown Rotary Club are still available.
The plates, which cost $15 each, can be purchased at the Dickenson & Wait Craft Gallery, O’Hurley’s General Store, the town’s visitors center, and the Bavarian Inn gift shop.
The plates are the standard license plate size of 6 by 12 inches. They carry the same image as the town welcome signs located on Duke Street, by the Bavarian Inn, and on Washington Street, by O’Hurley’s.
The image was created by local graphic artist Robert Shelley. It echoes the all-seeing eye symbol that adorns the front wall of the town’s old market house building—a relic of the building’s long-time use by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows fraternal organization.
All proceeds from sales of the plates help support the Shepherdstown Rotary Club’s community programs.
