The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown has inducted Daniel Hayes as a new member. The induction ceremony was held at the Club’s April 8 breakfast meeting at the Bavarian Inn.

Hayes has 30 years of experience as a civil engineer in land development and stormwater management, including design, permitting, and construction. Currently, he is Director of Engineering with the Alpha Corporation. He earned a Bachelor’s in Agricultural Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1993.
At present, Hayes serves on the Jefferson County Planning Commission, the Local School Improvement Committee at Jefferson High School, and as Master of Ceremonies of the Jefferson High School Jazz Festival. He is also active at St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town as an Order of Christian Initiation of Adults sponsor, a marriage preparation counselor (with his wife), and an active Knights of Columbus Council member.
He and his wife have lived in Shepherdstown for 21 years and have raised seven children. He has participated in many community activities with their children, including coaching baseball, hockey, soccer, and volleyball. He has also done some minor acting with St. Agnes Catholic Church, including its most recent version of the play, “The Anvil,” in 2023.
