The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown has inducted Carol Wootton as a new member. The induction ceremony was held at the Club’s April 17th evening meeting at the Bavarian Inn. The accompanying photo shows, Wootton, center, with Club member and sponsor Julie Wootton, left, and Club Secretary Rick Caruso, right.
Carol was born in Washington, DC and raised in Arlington County, VA. She graduated from Washington-Lee HS and attended Madison College (now James Madison University). She graduated in 1963 with a BS degree in elementary education, and a minor in physical education. She then began teaching 3rd and 4th grade.
Carol married Norman in 1964. After having two sons, William & Thomas, she then got involved in fitness & taught a lady’s program for nearly 20 years. Retiring from that, she pursued organ lessons, a lifelong dream, & played for nearly 20 years over a couple of moves, finally retiring from that in 2023. Now it’s going to the Wellness Center, driving to various appointments & looking after things at the house.
She lists; reading, researching family members through Ancestry.com, tending to a couple of flowerbeds (weeding!), driving to historical places & enjoying good British programs as well as PBS & network programming among her hobbies.
Carol’s son, William, and daughter-in-law, Julie, are members of our club. She attended several Rotary evening meetings and is being mentored by her sponsor and fellow Rotarian, Julie Wootton.
