DESCRIPTION:Rachel Manwill is the training and recruiting co-coordinator for Go Team Therapy Dogs – Team Frederick. She and her dog Hudson\, a 10-year-old Golden Retriever\, have been members of Team Frederick since 2022\, but Hudson (with Rachel’s mom) has been with Go Team since 2017\, serving communities and members of the military in Idaho\, Korea\, Italy\, and now Frederick. Rachel and Hudson\, joined by Francina and Joe Baldi and their dog Giuseppe\, are happy to present “Go Team Therapy Dogs in the Community.

SUMMARY:4th of July Picnic: Come Celebrate Our Nation's 250th Birthday
DESCRIPTION:*DUE TO THE FORECASTED HEATWAVE\, THE PARADE HAS BEEN CANCELED\, BUT THE PICNIC IS STILL ON!* \nJoin us for Shepherdstown’s Annual 4th of July Picnic sponsored by the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown. \nWe’ll be celebrating our nations 250th birthday from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Morgan’s Grove Park. \nEveryone is welcome and admission is free! \nThis event has been organized annually by the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown since 2007\, and by now they have become an important\, Rotary-branded tradition that’s greatly appreciated by residents and elected officials alike. The goal is to provide a wholesome\, family-oriented Fourth of July celebration for the town. \nThe picnic will include a waterslide and other activities for children and two local bands will provide live music. The Rotary Club will be selling hamburgers\, hot dogs\, chips\, ice cream and non-alcoholic beverages. DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown is pleased to welcome Dr. Chuck Bishop\, Superintendent of Jefferson County Schools\, as our guest speaker on Monday\, July 14\, at the Bavarian Inn. \nDr. Bishop joined Jefferson County Schools in July 2023 and brings more than 30 years of experience in public education. Throughout his career\, he has served as a teacher\, coach\, athletic director\, principal\, assistant superintendent\, and superintendent. Prior to coming to Jefferson County\, he served as Superintendent of Clarke County Public Schools in Virginia for nine years and previously led school divisions in both Augusta County and Radford City\, Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Virginia Tech and both his Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Virginia. \nDuring his presentation\, Dr. Bishop will provide an update on Jefferson County Schools and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing one of West Virginia’s fastest-growing school systems. Topics are expected to include student enrollment trends\, school construction projects\, workforce and career readiness\, teacher recruitment and retention\, the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in education\, and the long-term vision for preparing students for success in an ever-changing world. \nAs Jefferson County continues to experience significant growth\, Dr. Bishop’s insights will offer Rotarians a valuable perspective on the future of public education and the important role schools play in supporting students\, families\, businesses\, and the broader community.

DESCRIPTION:Bernice Collis is a native of Berkeley County. She and her husband own Minghini’s General Contractors\, Inc. Prior to joining Minghini’s\, Bernice taught at Hedgesville Middle School for 11 years. After joining Minghini’s\, she was elected to the Berkeley County Board of Education for two terms. Bernice is a life-long Girl Scout. She has over 60 years in the organization as a Girl Scout\, Troop Leader\, Board Chair/Member and Volunteer. She views her work for the Girl Scouts as an Investment. She has chaired the Women of Distinction program in the Eastern Panhandle for 22 years\, raising over 1 million dollars while celebrating the most amazing women in our communities! Bernice resides in Berkeley County with her husband Craig.

DESCRIPTION:Since 2014\, Andrew Schneider\, as Executive Director of Fairness West Virginia\, has led the effort to advocate for effective lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, and transgender policy changes in West Virginia. Prior to joining Fairness\, Andrew served for seven years as the Executive Director of the ACLU of Connecticut where he was a leader in the successful state campaigns to win transgender civil rights\, abolish the death penalty\, and legalize medical marijuana. Before that\, he was the Executive Director of the ACLU of West Virginia for six years. In 2007 he was the recipient of the West Virginia NAACP Freedom Award for leading the successful legislative effort to ban and combat racial profiling in the state. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in European History from Washington and Lee University.
