SUMMARY:District Governor Dawn Linn\, Official Visit
DESCRIPTION:Retired CEO\, Professional Philanthropist\, and Accidental Daredevil (Mostly on Purpose)\nDawn Linn isn’t your average retiree. After steering the YWCA Northcentral PA as CEO from 2017 to January 2025\, she hung up her executive hat\, but definitely not her sense of adventure. Before leading the YWCA\, she spent 14 years as the VP of Planned Philanthropy at the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania\, where she practically wrote the book on cultivating generosity. And yes\, she did that after a 15-year award-winning banking career that started at Peoples State Bank and peaked at Wachovia Wealth Management. \nBut here’s the thing: Dawn isn’t just about spreadsheets and strategic plans. She’s a secret (or not-so-secret anymore) thrill-seeker! Forget quiet evenings; Dawn’s been known to rappel down buildings (yes\, the tallest one in Williamsport\, thank you very much)\, zip-line through forests\, conquer white-water rapids\, and even explore canyons. Think Indiana Jones\, but with a better understanding of charitable giving. \nWhen she’s not chasing adrenaline\, Dawn enjoys more grounded pursuits. You’ll find her creating stunning silk flower arrangements\, tending her vibrant garden\, or getting lost in a good light fiction novel—because even superheroes need downtime. \nHer community involvement is legendary. A Past President of the Williamsport Rotary Club\, she also served as Secretary and Foundation Chair for the club and was an Area 4 Governor. She’s the founder of the Northcentral PA Estate Planners Council and a dedicated advocate for her community\, Dawn has a heart as big as her travel itinerary. Her passion projects through Rotary include the Junior Rotarian program (a proud annual project since 1936)\, Highway Cleanup\, the Brandon Park Garden\, 3rd Grade Dictionaries\, and the Indoor Mini Golf initiative. Speaking of travel\, she’s a true explorer\, always ready to dive into new cultures and sample exotic cuisines. \nWhy Rotary? Why be a District Governor?\nService has always been at the heart of who she is. Whether organizing local initiatives or building bridges between neighbors\, she believes true leadership begins with listening\, connecting\, and rolling up our sleeves to make a difference. As District Governor\, she committed to nurturing the spirit of service and deepening the community connections that bring lasting impact to every corner of District 7360. \nOn the personal side\, Dawn has been married to Thomas for 39 years\, and proud mother of three adopted grown children\, Dawn proves you can balance a stellar career with a life full of adventure and heart. So\, if you’re looking for someone who can manage a multi-million-dollar budget and then leap off a building\, you’ve found her.

SUMMARY:Rotary C&O Canal Ride *Canceled/Rescheduling
DESCRIPTION:Due to logistical concerns\, this event has been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date. Stay tuned. Thank you for your support.\n\nPedal with purpose!\nEvery mile you ride helps us change lives—clean water\, health care\, and hope in a hungry world. \nThe proceeds from this year’s event will help fund our support of the MEDLIFE chapter at Shepherd University and their service learning trip to Ecuador this summer. \nThis is the first year for the Rotary C&O Canal Ride. Start your bike ride at the Jefferson Security Bank Pavilion\, adjacent to the Shepherd University’s Ram Stadium.  You will cross the bridge over the Potomac River and then descend bike on a bike  path to the C&O Canal Towpath.  The canal path is flat with a packed stone dust surface in overall very good condition.  The ideal bike for this ride would be a gravel bike with wider tires.  The canal is very scenic with views of the Potomac throughout the ride. There are rest stops with snacks and drinks at Dargan’s Bend (mile marker 64.9).  You will pass historic Harpers Ferry  at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers at mile marker 60 . There is a rest stop at  Brunswick (mile marker 55).  At the Monocacy Aqueduct (mile marker 73.2) is the turn-around point. You will have completed 50 Km.  Retrace your route to the Jefferson Security Bank  Pavilion.  You are welcome to end your ride at any point along the route. \nEnd  your ride at the Pavilion. The Rotary Club will provide a  lunch and snacks. \nRegistration will open at 7:30 a.m.  If you plan on biking the entire 100 km round trip to Monocacy Aqueduct\, you should start no later than 8:00 a.m.  Registration will close at 10:30 a.m.

SUMMARY:Winery Bus Tour\, April 26 (RSVP by April 18)
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event has been closed. We are at capacity for the tour.\nLast year’s winery bus tour for our club was a big hit and our Club Services Committee has\, by popular demand\, scheduled one for this spring! Mark your calendars for Saturday\, April 26th. We’ve reserved another 25-person mini-coach bus from Elite Excursions WV to transport us to several wineries as outlined below (each stop will last about 90 minutes). The cost is $50/person (with members encouraged to tip the driver at the end if they are pleased with the service). Use the form\, below\, to sign up. Note: Wine\, beer\, and food purchases are NOT included – this cost is just for the transportation for the day to the wineries\, where you don’t have to worry about driving. Plus the fun we have on the bus\, with music and good friends together\, is not to be missed (if last time is any indication)! \nThis is likely going to sell out quickly. Registration priority will be for Rotarians and their partners. If we have left over spots\, we’ll let members invite outside friends. \nThe itinerary is as follows: \nSaturday\, Apr 26th 2025 \n11:30 AM: Bus pick-up at Bavarian Inn \n12:15 PM: First Stop – Bluemont Station Brewery & Winery (Bluemont\, VA). Like last time\, this is also a great starting point for a good lunch that they make there. \n2:15 PM: Second Stop – 868 Estate Vineyards (Purcellville\, VA). A favorite winery for many Rotarians (some who have memberships there) and there will be a live band that day as we stop there. \n4:00 PM: Third Stop – Two Twisted Posts Winery (Purcellville\, VA). Another quaint winery tucked along Harpers Ferry Road that will also have live music that day. \n5:45PM: Drop off at Bavarian Inn (please be responsible and have arrangements to take you home if you’ve participated a little too much with the wine/beer drinking that day) \nHope to see you there and be on the lookout soon for registration information! \nCheers\, \nSean Murtagh & the Club Services Committee \n*Contact Sean at 202-603-3997 if you have any questions.Winery Tour

SUMMARY:Paul Harris Candidate Nominations Due
DESCRIPTION:I am pleased to announce the initiation of this year’s Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) candidate nomination and selection program. The program was created by our club to recognize and award our highest club honor to club and community members who exemplify “Service Above Self” in all that they say and do. While we as Rotarians all follow this mantra\, there are those among us who consistently exceed expectations and deserve special recognition by our club. The identification and nomination of these unique individuals is up to you. \nThe nomination forms for club member(s) and community member(s) can be downloaded below. Also attached are a list of all club members showing their current PHF status\, and a list of community members that have been awarded a PHF in the past. \nAny member of our club can nominate a club and/or community member for this award. However\, a current PHF must sponsor the nomination. All nominations must be in writing (typed or handwritten) on the appropriate attached form\, and submitted to me by April 16\, 2025. The completed nomination forms will be circulated to all club PHFs for final selection via majority vote at a special breakfast held for this purpose. The tentative date for this breakfast will be on or about May 6\, 2025. While the final number of awards has not been established to date\, it will be determined by the club board of directors at some point in the near future and announced at the PHF breakfast. \nPlease do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about this very important club function. \nSincerely\, \nWalt Eifert \nDocument Resources: \n2025 PHF Club Member Nomination Form \n2025 PHF Community Member Nomination Form \nList of 2025 Club PHFs2025 \nCommunity PHF Awards History dft 3 25 \n
