SUMMARY:Skating is On! — Frostyfest Scheduled for March 6\, 7\, 8
DESCRIPTION:Frosty Fest began as a creative idea from the Jefferson County Convention & Visitors Bureau—an effort to bring some winter energy to downtown during the typically slow retail month of January. The cornerstone of the weekend is a hot chocolate contest\, with several local restaurants competing and welcoming visitors inside to warm up and indulge. \nBut the planners wanted more—something playful\, something memorable\, something especially fun for families. \nEnter the ice rink. Skating times are: \nFriday 4-7pm\nSaturday 10-4pm\nSunday 10-4pm\n\n \n	\n\nBehind the Market House on King Street\, an acrylic ice rink will pop up for the weekend—perfectly suited to our mild winter climate. A professional company will handle setup and breakdown\, and skates will be available for rent on site. Rotarians will be running the sign-in desk\, helping things glide along smoothly. \nDonations will be accepted at the rink and will benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). All skaters (or parents/guardians) will be asked to sign a waiver. \nAnd there’s more than skating. \nWe’ve added a snack station\, complete with tables and chairs where folks can relax while waiting for their turn on the ice. Four youth organizations—Girl Scouts\, Med-Life\, Rotaract\, and Interact—will be serving donated snacks throughout the weekend. These are just small treats; the goal is still to encourage everyone to visit and support our downtown restaurants. \nThe Shepherdstown Community Club is partnering with us to help make this a truly welcoming community event. The fire department is also on board\, bringing a fire truck for kids to explore and hosting a warming fire to keep everyone cozy. \nFrostyFest Skating Reservations

She is a Certified Festival and Event Associate\, a graduate of Leadership Jefferson (Class X)\, and a Certified Marketing Professional through LERN. SUMMARY:Jefferson County Community Ministries
DESCRIPTION:Jefferson County Community Ministries was founded in 1983 by a group of five local churches. By banning together\, they shared a combined mission to make a lasting difference in the Jefferson County community. Our goals since our inception have stayed true to our roots with three main objectives: \n1. To enable self-sufficiency in each person we serve\n2. To empower our clients to render permanent solutions in order for them to attain personal goals\n3. To prevent homelessness in our community\, and beyond\, to the best of our ability \nBrooke Grossman is the Executive Director of JCCM\, joining the team in October 2025. She spent the last several years working as the Chief Mission Officer for Horizon Goodwill overseeing the human services\, human resources\, and training and development departments for the organization in Maryland\, Virginia\, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Brooke and her 2 youngest children moved to Charles Town from Maryland in November 2024\, her son is in 8th grade at Charles Town Middle and her daughter is a Senior at Washington High. The whole family fell in love with Jefferson County as soon as we arrived. Thanks to awesome neighbors like all of you they felt at home instantly. SUMMARY:Sleep in Heavenly Peace
DESCRIPTION:A bed is a basic need for the proper physical\, emotional and mental support that a child needs and many children in our area do not have beds to sleep in.  Having a good bed helps children grow\, helps them sleep better\, helps them learn.  Come and hear about this innovative team\, building beds\, building partners. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a national organization answering the call to a national problem and is where it is today because of the passionate volunteers who believe in the mission of getting kids off the floor and into beds. In just a few hours of your time\, you can make a direct\, permanent impact in the quality of life for dozens\, if not hundreds and maybe even thousands of kids in your community. \nBuilding Beds for Kids in Need\nParticipating in one of their Build Days is an exciting experience. There’s always something to do… from the moment you arrive\, sign in\, and get your safety gear until the last SHP logo is branded on the final headboard of the day. Volunteers – under the guidance of SHP Chapter team members – build bunks in an assembly line setup. There are stations for sawing\, sanding\, drilling\, assembling\, staining\, and branding the wood. What started as a pile of raw lumber from the hardware store becomes ready-to-deliver bunks for kids in need.

SUMMARY:Rotary Welcome Sign and Bridge Refresh
DESCRIPTION:We have arranged for the town street sweeper and dump truck! So after the meeting on May 26\, in the run-up to Shawn’s District Governor induction\, we would like to give Shepherdstown’s front porch a little Rotary shine. We’ll be tackling the winter leftovers on the bridge (goodbye\, gravel!)\, sprucing up the Bavarian Inn entrance\, freshening the town entry sign with plants and mulch\, and tidying the road edges so visitors get the welcome our town deserves. \nBring your gloves\, your wheelbarrow spirit\, and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Many hands make light work — and a prettier entrance to town! \nThanks to Woody Coe\, and the Corporation of Shepherdstown\, for their support! \nProject Details and Sign Up\n  \n
