July 4th Community Parade & Picnic
In 2007, the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown initiated a community parade and picnic on the Fourth of July. These events have now become a town tradition, and the Club continues to sponsor them annually. Through this service to the community, we hope to reinforce traditional, small-town values and provide a wholesome, family-oriented Independence Day celebration that everyone can enjoy. This year, join us Tuesday, July 4th, and celebrate our nation's independence.

Here are more details:
The parade will be held on Tuesday, the 4th starting at 11:00 a.m. on German Street downtown. It will begin at Church Street and end at Princess Street. Entries will include veteran's groups, antique vehicles, local societies organizations of all kind, local theaters, businesses, government officials, children's organizations, animals, historical re-enactors, fire trucks, and more. Plenty of parking is available in the Shepherd University parking lot at High and Princess streets.
The picnic will be held right after the parade, from 12 noon to 3:00 pm, at Morgan's Grove Park on Kearneysville Pike (Route 480) just south of town. It will be held in and around in the park's pavilion. There is plenty of parking at the park. The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and non-alcoholic beverages at reasonable prices. All proceeds from these sales will be used to help cover event costs. But you can bring your own picnic lunch if you prefer.
Picnic children's activities:
This year's picnic will continue to emphasize children's activities and we'll once again have a big waterslide, with the Shepherdstown Fire Department supplying water.
