Rotary Reads Grants

The Shepherdstown Rotary Club's "Rotary Reads" program providescash grants to worthy local institutions for programs and activities that help promote literacy and reading among the town's children.

These grants are awarded annually during March, in recognition of that month's designation as "Literacy Month" on the Rotary calendar.

Originally a maximum of $500 was awarded each year. In 2015, this amount was increased to $1,000.

Recent award recipients have included the Shepherdstown Public Library, the Shepherdstown Day Care Center, and the Shepherdstown Elementary School.

The grant program is a project of the Club's Vocational Service Committee. It is funded in part by the Club's annual Wine-Tasting Dinner, which the Committee organizes.
